After nearly 8 years of partnership, Romana is retiring!

Romana has been a brilliant guide, and even better companion to me since 2016. At almost 10 years old, she's had an incredible career, including a bachelors (& soon to be masters) degree, various jobs, many moves and homes, frequent travels, a pandemic, litigations, innumerable, cafes, many friends, enduring sass, and lots and lots of cuddles.

It's impossible to thank her enough for her many years of intelligence, hard work, and love as my guide, but retiring her while she's still healthy so she could reap the rewards of her efforts before the end of her life felt like the best way to honor her.

Why this fundraiser?

In lieu of gifts, I wanted honor Romana’s legacy by giving back to the organization that brought her to me. Guide Dogs for the Blind not only breeds and trains exceptional dogs, but also provide them to blind and visually impaired handlers free of charge. They’ve served as an incredible support through the years and have helped me navigate her health and guide dog access issues. I’ll be going back to GDB for my successor guide dog, so supporting them would mean the world to us.
