Making a Donation with Screen Reading Software
Instructions for Desktop/Laptop
- From the GDB fundraising homepage (www.fundraise.guidedogs.com), hit the “E” key to move to the closest edit field. You will hear: “Fundraiser Search Edit”.
- Enter the first and last name of the person you want to support. The search only renders exact matches. So, if a letter is missing or an extra letter is added to the name, the search will yield no results.
- The search feature will render the person’s name, campaign details, and goal. You can use your arrow keys to move down the content until you hear the: Donate now link.
- A payment form will be rendered. Use Tabb to proceed within the form, and Shift Tabb to return to a section. All edit fields and list menus are accessible. Ensure all required fields are filled correctly.
- If paying with a credit card, make sure not to enter dashes or spaces into the credit card number field. If you enter any character that is not a number, the transaction will fail and you will be asked to double-check your information.
- If making a payment with PayPal, we recommend you login to your PayPal account first. This will make the checkout process faster. The donation form times out quickly, and if you take too long to sign In to PayPal from the donation form, the transaction will not go through. You will then be asked to re-enter some of the information in the form.
Instructions for Mobile Devices
- In order to submit a donation with your mobile device, you must use the mobile browser and enter the URL directly into the browsers web address field.
- We recommend that anyone using assistive tech use PayPal or Venmo to submit their donation. In addition, we suggest that they login into their account with their mobile browser. This means they will need to enter paypal.com or venmo.com into the web address field to login, then go to fundraise.guidedogs.com to make the donation.
- The form is fully accessible with the hand gestures associated with Android and IOS. However, the form is long and some may benefit from connecting a keyboard to their mobile device for this process.
- Once you hit enter on the submit payment button, and the transaction goes through, a confirmation message will be delivered on the screen. You will also receive an email confirmation for your records.
